James Murphy, 2manydjs and the prestigious American audio company McIntosh present DESPACIO, a new unique clubbing experience. DESPACIO powered by McIntosh is a statement intended to preserve, promote and celebrate the tradition of pure live music performances. The focus is on the partygoers’ experience instead of the stage spectacle that has become so commonplace in music today. DESPACIO powered by McIntosh presents itself as an astonishing sound system formed of seven 11-foot towers of speakers and amps arranged in a circle, with the sum total of 50,000 watts of McIntosh power, occupying a space at Sónar by Day (with a limited capacity of 1200 persons). Murphy and the Dewaele brothers, both key figures in electronica’s recent history with their repective projects LCD Soundsystem/DFA and 2manydjs/Soulwax, play a background role in this new scene. The three of them share the work in the booth, playing only vinyl from their own exclusive private collections, and for a six-hour-long set that will happen during all three days of the Sónar by Day event. As they entrust themselves with saying, “Despacio is happiness!”
