R&B singer, producer, author, studied music in Montreal and Quebec, later
got a degree in musicology at McGill. Together with his friend Jeremy Greenspan
she learned to manipulate the synthesizer in exchange for some vocals in his
group Junior Boys. This way "Pull My Hair Back" was born, collaboration
crafted with vintage items that belonged to the recently deceased father of
Lanza. Hyperdub (Burial or Kode9 label) never hesitated to produce a record of
R&B. Greenspan handles minimalist arrangements, provides beautiful dark synth landscapes and deep bass. The name "Pull My Hair Back" is
because Greenspan doesn't want to appear in another group besides Junior Boys
and Lanza, if not signing this one as solo, would have been regarded just as a
side project of Junior Boys and people soon would have forgotten her. After her
performance, no one will forget her and her electro-R&B glacially sensual
proposal.
