Music with classical training behind, a work also filled with New York’s influences. Halo has written techno, ambient, synthpop; played drum machines, synthesizers, samplers, vocals, piano, electric guitars and violins. After the success with record label Hippos in Tanks, later arrives "Quarentine" (with Hyperdub) which won the favor of critics and became Album of the Year for The Wire the magazine. When live, Halo focuses on hybrid rhythms, bass and psychedelia. Come to witness her latest release "Chance of Rain" this year. Laurel Halo is the stage name of Ina Cube, influenced by Steve Reich, the Detroit techno, her stance in Thailand and science fiction sounds. Now she is a key figure in hypnagogic pop, with hints of IDM, ambient and electro. Sónar presents this prodigy child, radio DJ since University of Michigan’s time. Star draft of Hippos in Tanks and now Hyperdub. She recently has collaborated with James Ferraro and Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never).
