Nordic Sónar by Pinche Mex D (also very fond of Scandinavia)
Sónar is fond of Scandinavia, it has touch Iceland (Reykjavik 2014), Stockholm and the connection with Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark is expanding and very interesting. This started years ago with the likes of Pan Sonic, Fever Ray, Björk, Lars Horntveth, Axel Boman, Jimi Tenor, Jónsi, Little Dragon, Bjørn Torske and Annie, among many others) and was consolidated by Sónar 2013, with performances from Ólafur Arnalds, Sísý Ey, Samaris and Gluteus Maximus.
Nordic Sónar: Neneh Cherry, Lykke Li, new albums both. New partnership between Röyksopp and Robyn, electro synth pop euphoria. New Danish rising star Mø, cosmic disco god Todd Terje, also with new work. Trentemøller, among genres like pop and wavy electronica. And some groups very fond of making people have a nice time like FM Belfast or the not-very-Sónar-like Whomadewho or Roll The Dice.

This year comes with Lykke Li "I Never Learn", the end of her
trilogy with "Youth Novels" and "Wounded Rhymes". Etheral
pop, synthetic darkness with her organic beautiful dream-like voice, always
enigmatic and obscure, very curious to see her at Sónar Barcelona. Also successful Robyn is taking her duo with Norwegian Röyksopp, undisguised love for
electro pop beats, luscious house, make us move, they will "do it
again" at Sónar. Also Neneh Cherry, born and raised in Sweden, no
introduction needed (if you do read my article about her) she comes with an
avantgard sound, some post-rock with RocketNumberNine and the productions of Kieran
Hebden. Todd Terje (and Hans-Peter Lindstrøm) are the masters of the new cosmic
disco sound, now Terje comes to show all his "It's Album Time".
Meanwhile, Dane Trentemøller is progressing, he comes with musicians to show how
he learns to move between organic and electronic. FM Belfast is a dance pop
contagious thing from Reykjavik. Even the Australian Ben Frost lived in Iceland
many years...And mention (even in my amazement) Whomadewho from Denmark and
Roll The Dice, Swedish duo creators of evocative cinematic soundscapes. For me
the most interesting discovery from this latitudes is the project of young Dane MØ. The new rising global star, believe me.
